This weekend I went with my host sister Marianne and her scout troop of 40 girls ages 8-12 on a weekend that the scouts call a "hike" (pronounced "aike" in French, for the first, I'd say, 25 times that I heard that word I could not for the life of me figure out what it was: "What is an aike? What a strange word...". And then I saw it on paper). It's for the younger scouts to go away for a weekend with their chefs (the counselors, who are all about 19 or 20 years old) to play games, be together, do some indoor camping, and just have a good time! It reminded me a lot of summer camp, but for a weekend. And being a stand in camp counselor for 40 adorable French speaking kids is quite a treat :) One of my favorite questions that I was asked: C'est vrai que tu es venue de l'autre bout du monde juste pour être avec nous ce weekend? (Is it true that you came from the other side of the world just to be with us this weekend?). From playing Uno and getting my hair braided, to listening to guitar music before bed and a burping war between my friend and her boyfriend, this weekend was lots of fun!
I hope that I will have pictures soon, but I can't be sure because I forgot all about taking them! Hopefully someone else did :)

I think that this is the longest that I've gone without a blog post, and I honestly think that the reason is that I haven't had much to blog about! :o
Well, that's not entirely true. I suppose daily life here is almost always pretty interesting- the mere fact that it happens in a different language greatly ups the "fascinating" factor.
About the language- I think that it is finally safe to say that I am bilingual. I THINK. (At least that is what my friends at school have been telling me!). I had an experience the other day that I feel confirmed it, though I don't want to get to cocky about it because next thing I know someone could say something that I don't understand at all!
I was at the school library with one of my friends doing research for our French (literature) class. I was looking for a book on the author that I am studying, and asked the librarian if she knew where any might be. We talked for a bit, she was asking me what sort of book I wanted, etc. Then she pulled one of the shelf in English and said "Well there's this book, but it's in English, do you think you could read it?" I almost started laughing but I restrained myself :) Now whether this is a sign that I'm bilingual or the librarian was just REALLY out of it and couldn't hear my accent I don't know, but it made me happy nevertheless!
Though the past couple weeks have been rather calm and normal (by Belgian standards), they have still been great. But in the next month I think (I hope!) I will have some adventures to write about. :)
